rave about CalSO I enjoyed the student leaders and presentations. The college overview was extremely helpful, and I really enjoyed the professor's comments and suggestions. I was very moved by our discussion about the family transition. I thought the CalSO counselors handled the discussion with sensitivity and maturity. I am glad I attended. Networking with other parents was helpful and interesting. Resources available to students were uncovered. Ways to keep involved with your students without being overbearing were presented and made a lot of sense. I thought the program was terrific. Some of our daughter's friends did not bring their parents. We are so glad that we came and met other parents and got a feeling for Berkeley life. I felt much more prepared as a parent for my son's transition. The way it was organized really gave me a sense of what life might be like for my son. It was even fun staying in a dorm and eating in the dining halls. This program has made me excited and grateful that my daughter got into fall extension and not the regular fall program. I was thrilled to learn about the opportunities available academically and socially to the FPF students. The program was great fun, very informative, and on the whole very well organized. I loved the sense of family that the program presented. This is a wonderful program. It really prepares parents for what’s to come. It defies all the stereotypes of "the big, impersonal university." Finding housing was very stressful for us, but everything else was really good. |
