Where do I go to get my Cal 1 Card?
For the convenience of UC Berkeley's faculty and staff, the Cal 1 Card office is 180 Cesar Chavez Center, Lower Sproul Plaza. Our telephone number is 1-866-2UCBCARD.
When is the Cal 1 Card office open?
Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Who is eligible for the Cal 1 Card?
All academic and non-academic career staff and faculty.
Why do I need to get the Cal 1 Card?
It replaces your beige / blue Campanile card and has added features like a digitized image, signature, barcode for library and RSF access, and magnetic stripe for access to services.
What do I need to bring to get my Faculty and Staff Cal 1 Card?
You will need to have or know your CalNet (Employee) ID number. You will also need to bring valid form of picture ID (Driver's license or passport or California ID card, etc.).
When can I begin to access services using my Cal 1 Card?
Immediately.
Will I be required to get a renewal sticker each year?
No. Your official status will be validated electronically.
How much will my Cal 1 Card cost?
Your initial card is free.
How much will it cost to get a replacement card?
Damaged or broken cards will be replaced for free if they are determined to be NON-WILLFULLY damaged or broken. Otherwise, a nonrefundable $25 fee will be assessed.
If I don't like my picture can I get a replacement card?
We will be happy to retake your picture while you are at the Cal 1 Card Office in the process of getting your card. Once you have left the premises with your ID card, only damaged or broken cards will be replaced if it is determined to be NON-WILLFULL.
I have changed my name. Can I get a replacement card?
Once you have petitioned a name change with the Campus Human Resources / Payroll Department, you must wait at least five business days before coming to the Cal 1 Card Office to get a replacement card. To obtain a new ID free of charge you will need to bring your old card in with you for an even exchange. If you do not present the old card at the time of service, it will be processed as a lost card and you will be charged a $25 nonrefundable replacement fee.
Is the Cal 1 Card mandatory?
Yes, the Cal 1 Card is mandatory for all members of the campus community, including faculty, staff, and students, to ensure a safe and secure campus community. In addition to being your official photo identification card, you can enjoy additional benefits such as access to campus buildings and services, as well as the Cal 1 Card debit account.
Will I be required to wear or display my new Cal 1 Card while on the job?
No. However, if the services your department provides require you to display your ID then it will be under the mandate of the department and labor relation policies. It is mandatory to have your Cal 1 Card on your person at all times as a means of identifying you as an official member of the campus community.
