Getting a Cal 1 Card
All current students, faculty, and staff are required to get a Cal 1 Card.
How do I get one?
Visit the Cal 1 Card office at 180 Cesar Chavez Center in Lower Sproul Plaza. The office is open Monday-Friday from 9:00am to 4:30pm. In order to get your Cal 1 Card you will need to present a government-issued identification card (i.e. driver's license or passport) and make sure you know your student/employee ID number. Your first card and Class Pass/Bear Pass are free.
For cross-registered students
Issuance of Cal 1 Cards to Cross-Registered students is based on approval from the Office of the Registrar. All other procedures are the same.
For Visiting Scholars
Both visiting scholars and visiting student researchers who are registered with the Visiting Scholar and Postdoc Affairs (VSPA) Program are eligible to receive a Cal 1 Card. However, the VSPA Program must have received both the payment of the University Services Fee and a Patent Acknowledgement prior to the release of the Cal 1 Card. After the receipt of these two requirements, please note that there is a 72-hour waiting period. After the waiting period, go to the Cal 1 Card Office at 180 Cesar Chavez Center, located in Lower Sproul, to pick up your Cal 1 Card. The office is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 4:30pm. Please be prepared to bring your ID number and present a current government issued photo identification card, e.g., driver’s license or passport.
